Frontier Bolting is a non-profit fund set up to develop and establish new climbing routes in new and existing crags. Frontier Bolting has a strict focus on developing only high quality lines for hard single-pitch sport routes and adventurous multi-pitch routes. The primary purpose of the bolting fund is to cover the cost of bolts, bolting and the gear required to place them.
While our primary purpose is to develop new routes, we have expanded the scope of the bolting fund to include fixed anchor replacement in El Potrero Chico! You may also report bad bolts to us. Please give us as much information as possible when you do so and include pictures if you can.
El Potrero Chico | Nuevo León, Mexico
Through the development of new routes, our goal is to:
⋅ Give back to the climbing community by establishing new, safe routes to climb
⋅ Encourage climbers explore new areas
⋅ Prove that there is still plenty of uncharted territory left for climbers with a large appetite for adventure
⋅ Explore a vision of what is possible for all climbers
⋅ Promote the sport of rock climbing
We primarily accept donations through PayPal, but if you would like to make a donation in person please contact us.
We accept donations of new or gently used climbing gear. Our biggest need, aside from hardware, is static rope. Please contact us if you have any questions about donating gear.
If you live in the Houston area, we may be able to pick up your donations. If you are located elsewhere in Texas or the US, you may ship the donation directly to us through our friends at Lost Soles Climbing*:
*Depending on the contents of the donation, Frontier Bolting may be able to cover the cost of shipping. We truly appreciate your support so please don't hesitate to ask.
Bolting is a more dangerous and more arduous process than simply climbing. We currently do not take any volunteers, but if you are in need of a partner or resources for your own bolting projects, feel free to contact us. We may be able to help!
Resources raised by Frontier Bolting will all go to the development of new climbing routes and cover the cost of equipment and transportation. Below is a list of what we need for our bolting kits:
⋅ SDS Hammer Drill Bits 3/8" and 1/2"
⋅ Bolts and Hangers
⋅ Brushes and their Cleaning Tools
⋅ Removable Bolts
⋅ Static Ropes
⋅ Slings and Utility Cords
⋅ Chains and Quick Links
The cost of bolting routes is expensive, and the bolting process itself trashes our kits rather quickly always leaving us with the need for more gear.
In our current fundraising campaign, all money raised is being spent on hardware, although we need more static rope!
